Technische Universitaet Dresden
The Technische Universitaet Dresden - founded in 1828 - is one of the eldest university in Germany. With more than 30,000 students and about 4,500 employee - among 480 professors - it is the largest university of Saxony. Since 1994 the Technische Universitaet Dresden has been having 14 faculties and covers all the acadamic fields: engineering, natural siences, humanities, social siences, and medical siences.
For the handling of international projects the Technische Universitaet Dresden has a special Department called Research Promotion and Public Relation. Aside the European Project Center EPC exists as a part of the Prorektorat Research Association Middle and East Europe. In the last ten years it has been applicated more than 100 projects with a total ammount of 7.5 million Euro budget. Within this project the EPC is responsible for managment.
The Institute for Road Design of Technische Universitaet Dresden was founded in 1992 at the same time when the Faculty for Transport Sciences was established at the university. Lectures are offered to students of the faculties for Transport Sciences, Civil Engineering, Business Managment and Economics, Forestry, Geosciences and Hydrosciences in the fields of planning and designing of road facilities, planning and designing procedures, enviroment protection, immission control, traffic safety and CAD systems for road design. The research focuses are the basics of road design, driving dynamics and driving geometric models, improvement of road guidline for rural roads and autobahns, driving behavoir prediction models, and improvement of designing technologies. The Institute for Road Design under the direction of Prof. Lippold is the leader of this project.
