Software Training, Germany (08/2008, Act.3.1 & 3.2)

In August 2008 our colleagues from the Ain Shams University Cairo and Minia University visited Dresden, Germany again. The main objective of this activity (3.1 & 3.2) was to attend in training courses of IT solutions which will be installed and integrated in the new IT-Labs at the Egyptian universities.

The courses were given for the applications:

ArcGIS, VISUM, VISSIM and Autodesk Civil 3d.

 

For the ArcGIS course we could use the IT-lab at the Faculty of Forestry, Geosciences and Hydrosciences at the TU Dresden. The course contents in ArcGIS were introduced by Mr. Prechtel, an expert in the field of GIS applications.

We were very pleased to get the PTV AG, a worldwide operating company in providing software, consulting and research for travel, traffic and transportation planning in the B2B field (www.ptv.de) as an additional partner in our TEMPUS project. In there branch office in Dresden they provided an IT-equipped room for the participants of the VISUM and VISSIM workshops. The workshops were carried out by Mr. Landmann, also an expert in using of both software solutions VISUM/VISSIM.

Civil 3d Workshop - AKG Berlin

 
After two workshops in Dresden, our colleagues had to go to Berlin were the Civil 3d workshop took place. The workshop was carried out by the AKG Software Consulting GmbH. The training covered the fields of Import of Surveying Data, Digital Terrain Model, Horizontal and Vertical Alignment design, Cross-Sections, etc. and was helt by Mr. Blaudszun. Both Egyptian Universities are going to start lessons in there next academic year with teaching civil 3d.

 

 

At this place we would like to express our special thanks to Mr. Reinhardt (PTV AG) and Mr. Steyer (AKG Software Consulting GmbH) for providing all premises, equipment and hospitality and to the trainers Mr. Prechtel, Mr. Landmann and Mr. Blaudszun for preparing and carrying out the workshops in a very successful way.
