Journey to Egypt (05/2009, Acitivity 4.3)
In May 2009 the European consortium members and individual experts went to Egypt within the proposed activity 4.3. The main aim of this activity was the evaluation of the current running realisation process at Ain Shams University Cairo and Minia University. Sitting in on updated courses and participating on newly developed exercises contributed to get impressions of the content and structure of these courses. More information and experiences were gained during discussions with responsible teachers and students attended these courses.
In preparation the final conference in June 2009 an agenda could be developed as a draft containing topics of presentations and responsible persons. Several invitation letters were created and a conference flyer designed. The division of work between all consortium members in preparation of the final conference could be fixed to ensure a well organized and informative meeting.
The journey was also be used to get more detailed impressions from parts of the infrastructure in Egypt. A microbus instead of the usually used train was used for the domesic transfer from Minia back to Cairo. The defizits in road safety mostly caused by unsufficient infrastructure and driving behaviour were made very clear. But this experience enables the experts to find appropriate perspective solutions how to adapt latest international research results in this field to Egypt to improve the current situation.
